Product: SMI Construction 5
What a wonderful program for the construction surveyor. I have beenusing it for over a year and if you use it properly it will pay for itself in no time. You can store your roadway alignments in it (several in one job) also you can enter your vertical and cross section templates. The templates once added give you the ability to take a shot anywhere on the job site and get a finish plan elevation. You can be on a cut in a fill on the roadway and it remembers. It's definately worth a look

Product: Sokkia set500
I have been using the set500 for almost a year now and overall i am
very pleased. Last week I tied a 9800' boundary traverse with an error of
closure of 0.07' and angular error of 0d-00'-04" so the precision of this
instrument is the best I have used. The one complaint is that sometimes at
close range it actually wont take a shot unless the crosshairs are pointed
above or to the side of the prism and because of this (i think) it has a
really hard time holding elevations. Overall a fine total station and a powerfull tool.

Product: Microsurvey CAD 2001
Review: I have a small operation that has been using CAD for over 10 years. Most of my work is small surveys with some topo jobs thrown in. My original cad software did not do topo so a few years ago I purchased Eagle Point software and was thoroughly disappointed. I used it for topo but that was it. A year ago I purchased Microsurvey CAD 3.1 and we all loved it. It took about a week to get make the transformation from old software to new. More recently we got our free upgrade to MS CAD 2001. With new features and super easy customizable toolbars I would recommend this software to anyone. It is not perfect, but it is damn close.
