South Dakota Board of Technical Professions
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Any individual and business firm who practices or offers to practice or uses titles to imply licensure as an architect, professional engineer, landscape architect, land surveyor, petroleum release assessor or petroleum release remediator must be licensed with this office. All individuals must complete an application either to take an examination or to be licensed by comity with another state. All examinations must be passed in the appropriate profession to indicate minimum competency, including those in the petroleum release program. See Exams and Licensure. National examinations taken in another state must be verified with passing scores. Businesses must apply for a Certificate of Authorization. All fees are listed in the Fee Schedule.
Seal requirements. All individuals licensed in this state except those in the petroleum release program must obtain a seal which shall be placed on each set of all final drawings, specifications, reports, plans, design information, and calculations prepared by the licensee. The seal can either be embossed or a rubber stamp. An original signature and date is to be adjacent to or across the seal. More information can be found in Statutes and Rules in 36-18-27.
