Thomas Miller
Area of Expertise: GIS
Thomas Miller, Managing Partner of Planet GIS of Castle Rock, CO is SurveyorCentral’s first GIS expert. Tom is uniquely qualified for this position with GIS experience in both the private and the public sectors including Douglas and Boulder Counties in Colorado. He has 15 years experience in GIS/LIS, Surveying & Mapping and 13 years of experience in the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) GIS software.
His extensive experience includes being a reviewer of various Federal Geographic Data Committee documents, books, and initiatives, such as: "Framework: Introduction and Guide” and “The Cadastral Data Content Standards Training Material”. Tom testified to the Colorado State Senate Sub-Committee about GIS Legislation and developed and taught the L.I.S. course at Metropolitan State College, Denver, CO for the surveying program.
In the software arena, Tom has written and is writing ARC/INFO programs for an extensive list of spatial data and mapping projects. He is skilled in using multiple types of GPS equipment and computer platforms, and has performed various types of surveys from high precision geodetic surveys to land boundary surveys.
A graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL with a BA in geography, Tom has continued his education with a vast number of GIS workshops and courses and has made presentations and participated nationally in panel discussions about GIS and related topics.
