 |
In 1971 Dean E. Goodman graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree. He immediately went to work for a small land-surveying firm in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1975 he became a registered land surveyor in the state of Georgia and started his own surveying firm, S.E. Quad Land Surveying. In 1978 he merged his business with Cowherd & Associates forming Cowherd, Goodman & Associates.
In 1983, Ed Cowherd and Dean Goodman formed a new company named C & G Software Systems, Inc. This company marketed the land surveying software that Ed and Dean developed for use in their own practice. In 1984 Ed and Dean closed Cowherd, Goodman and Associates and devoted their full attention to the development of field and office software for land surveyors. Dean Goodman has remained the Vice President of Development and part owner of C & G Software Systems to the present day.
Dean has extensive experience interfacing to all types of surveying equipment, including Total Stations, Robotic Instruments, GPS equipment, Lasers, and Digital Levels. While developing CG-Field, he gained knowledge of many types of hand-held computers and surveying instruments. He has also been instrumental in the development of the desktop COGO/CAD software known now as CGSurvey.
